Baby Yoga

Cillian and I went to our first mom and baby activity yesterday: Baby Yoga.  Cillian LOVED it and I am glad that I waited until he was three months old to try one out. There is no hiding the fact that my kid is already well traveled, but up until this point he had just been a tag-a-long on mom and dad's adventures.

I first noticed Cillian noticing other kids when
we were in Walt Disney World.  They have amazing baby centres at every theme park, and I'm planning on doing a whole post about Florida, but in these baby centres there is a whole room of changing tables.  My wee, little nine week old baby was already starting to roll on his side and crane his neck during his diaper change, to get a look at these other babies with their pants off too.  I realized I had created a social butterfly.

So when my friend Charlotte announced she was going to be running another mom and babies yoga class, I didn't care that it was across town.  My wee one needed some baby friends!

There is nothing cuter than a room full of babies on yoga mats.  Some babies cried, some babies fed, some babies stared up adoringly at their mommies and accepted loving kisses.  My baby rolled on his side and craned his neck to look at the other babies.  Even when I was in downward dog and giving him kisses, he was more interested in what everyone else was doing.  I am sure my mother reading this right now will think fondly back to my days as a kid, because I, apparently, asked every day who was coming over to play.  I think Cillian is going to be just like me, and need lots of baby friends to amuse him.

During this adorable class, Charlotte taught us a few tricks to stretch out our little babies, and get some gas out of their tummies.  Cillian has always struggled with gas pains because, even though he has a great latch, he takes in loads of air as he eats.  Our evenings and afternoon naps have been tough lately as we try new ways to get the gas moving so he can be more relaxed (euphemism for "stopping him to scream").  Last night I did the little baby yoga exercises and Cillian was a different baby!  It was so wonderful to have the lovely baby I know from the mornings make an appearance at night.  We were down the street visiting Cillian's new cousin Benny during bedtime, and Cillian was able to have his last feeding and drift off in my arms while I enjoyed a glass of wine.  Kudos to Charlotte for teaching me these stellar moves!

Happy Friday
